“Over the course of {Re} Creation's 5 works (48 min, 35 sec), pianist Marko Stuparević showcases his talents across these wildly differing classical pieces.

Of course, what will drag most people in is Rachmaninoff, but Scriabin and Medtner deserve just as much attention. Scriabin's 'Sonata No. 5, Op. 53' is arguably the most avant-garde piece here, putting Stuparević through the wringer as it flits between whimsical joviality and bursts of uncontrollable energico.

Medtner's 'Forgotten Melodies I, Sonata-Reminiscenza Op. 38, No. 1 in A minor' is a piece that from the first few notes is inviting. It's hard not to instantly warm to its simple melody. As the piece progresses, the melody becomes more complex.

Rachmaninoff's three-part 'Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 36' is bold, confident and has all the hallmarks of the great composer's work.
